Potidea Canal

This is the first stop that someone will make when visiting the Municipality of Kassandra. The embrace of the Thermaikos and Toroneos gulfs with the turquoise waters gives an amazing spectacle to the visitor. The bridge that connects the two shores was built in 1970 and the canal is 1,250 m long, 8 m deep and width 40 m. Enjoy your lunch or coffee on the beach of New Potidea which is pulsating.

Stavronikita Tower

The Tower of Stavronikitas (or otherwise the Tower of Agios Georgios or Tower of Sani) is the trademark of the Sani area and it was built in 1543.

It is part of the Byzantine fortification art of the 13th - 14th century and was protecting the monastery Stavronikita. The current height of the tower is 8 meters, much smaller than its original dimensions. However, it remains well-kept until today and some remnants of the fort precinct can be seen slightly.

Byzantine Tower of Nea Fokea

On the right side of the beautiful, picturesque port of Nea Fokea, dominates the Byzantine Tower of St. Paul's. It was built in 1407 and with a height of 28 meters used to protect the monastery dependency of St. Paul

Saint Paul's Holy Wate

The ruins of the castle as well as the holy water of St. Paul are worth visiting. When you are passing a small arch, you will drive to the chapel. Moreover, after a 10-meter walk inside on the rock, you will reach the point where the holy water gushes. 

Ammon Zeus Temple , Kallithea, Kassandra

Holy Ammon of Zeus and Dionysus

In Kallithea Kassandra, someone should visit the place where Dionysus, Ammon Zeus and Asclepius were worshiped. In the southwest side of the area under one rock, the God was worshiped along with his nymphs. The Holy Ammon of Zeus and Dionysus came to the surface in 1969 during the attempt to build a hotel unit where it was destroyed part of the place of worship. It dates from 800 BC. and constitutes an amazing attraction of the area. 

Thermal Baths of Saint Paraskevi

In the small village of Saint Paraskevi, you will find these thermal springs known for its beneficial heated waters and its healing properties. Relax and take advantage of these properties at Saint Paraskevi’s spa, overlooking the Aegean Sea and the stunning sunsets.

The Temple of Poseidon

Near the cape of Poseidius one can find the ruins of the ancient temple of Poseidon. It is the oldest sanctuary of the god Poseidon as it dates back to the 14th century BC and was in operation for about 1000 years. There is a strong presence of altars and ceremonial spaces.

Possidi's Old Lighthouse

Since 1864 a lighthouse adorns the edge of the cape that survives to this day. 

Petralona Cave (West Coast)

In the Petralona area, you must visit the fantastic and highly significant Petralona Cave. Local residents of the wider region discovered the cave in 1959, which confirms the existence of human life approximately 700,000 years ago. Additionally, a skull found at the site is estimated to be around 200,000 years old. The stalactites patiently meet the stalagmites over thousands of years, creating a sense of awe and admiration for the visitors.

Ancient Olynthos (West Coast)

Ancient Olynthos is one of the first and largest cities established in Chalkidiki, as it has been inhabited since approximately 5000 BC. The Bottiaeans settled in the area between 600 and 700 BC, founded the city, and named it Olynthos (meaning "wild fig tree").

Excavations have revealed roads as well as sewage and water supply systems. Over 100 houses of the same dimensions and similar design were also discovered, along with various household utensils. The visitor is amazed by the exceptional mosaic floors that have come to light. In general, the method used to build the city seems to have followed an urban plan, indicating the exceptionally high standard of living of its inhabitants. In 348 BC, the city was destroyed and has never been inhabited again. Today, it is one of the best-preserved ancient cities.

  • The picturesque settlement of Afytos with the painted old doors, the Folklore Museum and the church of Saint Dimitrios.
  • The wetland of Sani, an area of 1100 acres where live above of 200 species of birds and many endangered species.
  • Near Polychrono, the Turtle Lake “Mavrobara” where three unique and rare species of turtles live.
  • The Folklore Museum of Polychrono.
